Gianni Infantino a tranché : l’Iran jouera « bien sûr ». Bien sûr.

World Cup 2026 · Testimony
They will play under the flag of our murderers
In January, the Islamic Republic drowned our streets in blood. In two days — the 8th and 9th of January — the regime’s forces cut down tens of thousands of Iranians. With documents to back it, Iran International reports more than 36,500 dead in forty-eight hours: the deadliest massacre of protesters in modern history. The HRANA agency has confirmed thousands of names. Khamenei had ordered live fire; the regime shut down the internet so the world would see nothing.
Among our dead were footballers. Mojtaba Torshiz, a former Tractor Tabriz player, was shot dead with his wife in Qaemshahr. At least three footballers fell to the bullets. Our former captain Masoud Shojaei and the legend Ali Karimi begged FIFA to break its silence. FIFA said nothing.
And yet. This summer, a team will go to the 2026 World Cup under the name of “Iran.” But it is not our team. Outside the FIFA Congress, in Vancouver, our people shouted it: “This is not Iran — this is the IRGC’s team.”
They are right. The man who chairs the Football Federation is named Mehdi Taj. Before football, he was an IRGC intelligence commander in Isfahan. The IRGC does not merely hold the federation: it also holds Persepolis, Esteghlal, almost all of our football.
The world knows it. In late April, Canada — which has listed the IRGC as a terrorist entity since 2024 — turned Mehdi Taj back on the very day he arrived; he left that evening, with Ottawa reiterating that “IRGC officials are inadmissible to Canada and have no place in our country.” He could not sit at the FIFA Congress.
So here is what I cannot understand. The very men Canada sends back as terrorists, FIFA will let parade before billions of viewers. Under the flag of the Mullahs — that alien flag the regime imposed on our nation. Meanwhile, FIFA keeps our Lion-and-Sun flag out of its stadiums, the only one the Iranian people recognise as theirs, on the pretext that it is “political.” Our flag, banned; the flag of our killers, official.
The final insult? The regime demands that the United States issue visas for its IRGC-linked officials. Weeks before the tournament, the team still has no visas; Washington has warned that no man who served in the Guards will be welcome — a threat reaching even captain Mehdi Taremi. And the regime bargains to walk its Guards onto the world stage, setting up its base camp in Tijuana, Mexico.
Gianni Infantino has ruled: Iran will play, “of course.” Of course.
I, Katy, do not forget. When this team walks onto the pitch under the flag of the Mullahs, I will see the hand of January: the hand wearing the IRGC armband, still red with our blood, resting on a football. The game we love, turned into a showcase for murderers. The Mullahs’ Zahaak does not play football — he uses it.
