Je suis une mère. Et j’écris pour celles qui ne peuvent plus border leurs enfants le soir. La République islamique n’a pas seulement tué des manifestants : elle a tué des enfants — dans la rue, à bout portant, et au bout d’une corde. Voici ce que je veux que le monde n’oublie jamais.

Ils ont tout pris — sauf leur innocence, qui nous reste comme une braise. Nous porterons leurs noms tant que nous respirerons. Pour eux, pour la petite fille au drapeau, nous ne nous assiérons pas.

I am a mother. And I write for those who can no longer tuck their children in at night. The Islamic Republic did not only kill protesters: it killed children — in the street, at point-blank range, and at the end of a rope. Here is what I want the world never to forget.

They took everything — except their innocence, which stays with us like an ember. We will carry their names as long as we breathe. For them, and for the little girl with the flag, we will not sit down.

من یک مادرم. و برای مادرانی می‌نویسم که دیگر نمی‌توانند شب‌ها فرزندشان را در آغوش بخوابانند. جمهوری اسلامی تنها معترضان را نکشت: کودکان را کشت — در خیابان، از فاصلهٔ نزدیک، و بر سرِ دار. این است آنچه نمی‌خواهم جهان هرگز فراموش کند.

همه‌چیز را گرفتند — جز معصومیتشان را، که چون اخگری نزدِ ما مانده است. تا نفس می‌کشیم نامشان را خواهیم برد. به‌خاطرِ آنان، و به‌خاطرِ آن دخترکِ پرچم‌به‌دست، نخواهیم نشست.
